Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

The Academic Services Center is located on the second floor of Zane Showker Hall. ASC is not open during the evenings or on weekends; it runs on the university schedule.

Benefits of Consulting Advisors

Each of the advisors in the Academic Services Center has been assigned specific undergraduate academic programs in the College of Business. If you would like information about the programs in CoB or have questions about academic policies and procedures, contact the appropriate advisor from the following list.

Our focus is to assist you in the positive pursuit of your undergraduate academic experience in the College of Business. Our purpose is to provide a singular point of contact for those of who need assistance and/or information regarding the CoB curriculum, courses, majors, minors and academic programs. The student populations served by the ASC advisors include:

  • JMU undergraduate students with a declared business major (B.B.A., B.A., B.S. degrees)
  • JMU students considering a major or minor in the College of Business
  • Prospective students considering application to JMU who are interested in a College of Business major
  • Transfer students considering application to JMU who are interested in a College of Business major

Appointment Procedures

To schedule an appointment with an advisor, email him or her to inquire about available meeting times. Do not expect the advisor to be able to meet on the same day that you contact him or her. Instead, provide your availability for the upcoming week so that the advisor may pick a date and time suitable to his or her schedule.

Benefits of Consulting Advisors

The ASC student advisors can assist you with your CoB program of study in the following ways:

  • Provide an academic plan so that you know how to complete requirements for graduation successfully.
  • Explain the requirements for each CoB major, concentration and minor.
  • Provide an early review of your graduation application to alert you of any concerns.
  • Determine if courses taken at other institutions will transfer for credit toward graduation requirements.
  • Evaluate and respond to requests for course registration matters.
  • Direct you to the appropriate resources for finding an internship for credit.
  • Provide a faculty advisor for counseling in post-graduation options.
  • Provide counseling if your academic performance puts you at risk.
  • Offer references to university services for resolution of academic related issues or concerns.
